Wimbledon Ladies Quarter Final Preview

Posted on by admin

After an exciting group of matches today we now head to the quarter final stage of this years’ Wimbledon Ladies Singles tournament.

Opening match sees Serena Williams (1/4) take on Victoria Azarenka (3/1). Serena has a big advantage on the H2H statistics leading 16-3, she also has a 3-0 lead on grass courts, and also has won both of their meetings in 2015, so a fairly straightforward victory on the cards for the American then……… Well both of this year’s matches (albeit played on clay) have gone to 3 sets, and 2 of Azarenkas 3 victories have come in their last 6 meetings, Azarenka has yet to drop a set at in her 4 matches so it’s not a forlorn hope for the Belarusian. She is definitely getting better all the time following her injuries and looked really sharp in her victory over Belinda Bencic today. All these facts make the 3/1 just about big enough for me to take a chance here, and she defiantly has a chance to win a set which is quoted at 11/10

Completing the top half of the draw Maria Sharapova (1/6) takes on Coco Vandeweghe (4/1), Sharapova came through her match today with some difficulty against Zarina Diyas and to be honest I’ve seen her play with much more confidence than she showed today, Vandeweghe on the other hand had an excellent and in many ways surprising win over last year’s semi-finalist Lucie Safarova coming through in 2 tie-break sets.  Can I see Vandeweghe pulling off the upset here, to be honest no, but again I do see her pushing Sharapova and the 3/1 quoted to win the opening set or 6/4 to win any set interests me.

Bottom half of the draw sees 2 of the lesser known players battling it out for a place in the semi-finals,  with Garbine Muguruza (8/13) taking on Timea Bacsinszky (13/10). Muguruza beat the number 5 seed Caroline Wozniacki today in straight sets, whilst Bacsinszky overcame a very slow start to come back and beat Monica Niculescu in 3 sets. The pair met for the only time in this year’s Australian Open third round with Muguruza coming though in 3 sets, a result I can see being repeated here quoted at 3/1.

Making up the draw we have Agnieszka Radwanska (4/9) against Madison Keys (7/4), I’m a big fan of Keys, but she did struggle very much early doors in today’s match against Govortsova before coming through fairly easily in the third. Radwanska played really well against Jankovic, but then both girls did in that match at it was only toward the end that she got on top. Radwanska won their only meeting on grass here at Wimbledon in 2013 6-3 in the third set, and she holds an overall 3-0 H2H  as well. I can see a repeat with Radwanska coming through in 3 sets which is priced at 11/4.

So there we have it, outright prices along with all the match betting available In play from lunchtime Tuesday here at William Hill
