At the start of the US Open, William Hill offered Olympic gold medallist, Andy Murray, at 5/1 to win the tournament and despite a shaky start, could be ruing the day they did so.
He represents a six figure loser after just one match and is 1/66 to emerge victorious from his second round game against Ivan Dodig. Murray is 1/5 to win in straight sets and 14/1 to win the first set without dropping a game.
“Murray is always well backed but this is the most activity we have ever seen for him at such an early stage in Flushing Meadows,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
Murray is 7/2 third favourite to win the US Open, with Novak Djokovic 5/4 favourite and Roger Federer 5/2.
