Murray Comeback Leaves Bookies Sweating!
Andy Murray made an astonishing comeback against Marin Cilic on Wednesday night to book his place into the semi finals of the US Open. Cilic, a set and 5-1 up crumbled as Murray fought back to win by three sets to one, making him 2/1 second favourite with William Hill. Murray is now on course to give Britain’s biggest bookie a six figure headache, after they offered Murray at a standout pre-tournament 5/1.
Murray now faces Thomas Berdych in the last four after he beat Wimbledon champion Roger Federer in four sets. Murray is 5/2 to win 3-1 again. He will face either Novak Djokovic (4/5), Juan Martin Del Potro (12/1), David Ferrer (28/1) or Janko Tipsarevic (80/1) in the final at Flushing Meadows.
“We were expecting Murray to be suffering a bit of an Olympic hangover but he is digging deep and we will have to hope that he will fall at the last,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
