Roger Federer’s defeat to Sergiy Stakhovsky was such a shock to William Hill punters with just 106 of them placing bets on the Ukrainian emerging victorious at 16/1.
Federer was such a favourite that one German punter placed 100,000 Euros on Federer winning the match at 1/100.
Novak Djokovic is the 5/6 odds on favourite to win the tournament now with Andy Murray 5/4 and their next nearest rival, Juan Martin del Potro priced at 33/1.
“It looks an almost certainty that this year’s winner be either Murray or Djokovic,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Given the amount of upsets that we have had this year already, we can actually afford to cheer on Andy Murray for once.”
